CRLL Summer Program

The CRLL summer baseball program builds on our spring program, providing an opportunity to play in July and August. The program is open to all CRLL eligible players (see our boundary page for more information). It is an opportunity for players to continue to play and develop, as well as offering a chance to experience interleague play across the city.

In general, players must participate in their designated age division as Little League International rules are very strict for the summer competitive season for most divisions.

If there are more players interested than can be accommodated within CRLL, we will refer players to other leagues that have space available. Every effort will be made to place all players who wish to play summer ball on a team. While we try to include as many players as possible, it can be necessary to release players. Usually this will be due to numbers, for example 17 registrants which is too many for one team but not enough for two.

In the summer divisions, CRLL teams play in the Ottawa Summer Interlock League with teams from other Ottawa area Little Leagues in District 6 (Prescott Russell, South Ottawa, Orleans, Glebe) and District 2 (Ottawa West, East Nepean, Kanata).

For each age division we will typically attempt to form either 1, 2 or possibly more summer teams based on registration. There are no set nights for summer ball however games are generally held during the week (Sunday through to Thursday) with occasional weekend games when necessary due to field availability.

The summer program includes the selection of All-Star Teams at each division. The All-Stars are selected after a tryout process held in early June. These teams represent our league in the World Wide Little League Tournament which starts with the District 6 play-downs and continue on to Provincial, Canadian and World Series Championships for the successful teams. The All-Stars play within their own division of the Ottawa Summer Interlock League when not engaged with the Little League Tournament.

Please read the following information carefully:

  • Summer Registration will open soon --- DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION IS FRIDAY JUNE 15. Full registration and payment must be completed by this date. In all cases, registration must be completed prior to attending a tryout.
  • Tryouts for All-Star teams will be scheduled on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings early in June. There will be a minimum of three tryouts per division and players must attend two tryouts to be considered for placement on an All-Star team.
  • Only players that have played a minimum of 60% of their spring season games are eligible for All Star Selection. Players have the option of declining to tryout and self-select to a lower division if desired; however all eligible players from all spring divisions are welcome to try out for the all-star team.
  • Players trying out for the all-star teams must scroll to the bottom and read specific details about participation at this level.

Holidays:

It is understood that summer time brings family holiday time, and we realize players are likely to be away for some games, perhaps even a couple of weeks at a time. This should not stop you from registering. You will be asked to indicate known / expected vacation times in the registration form to help us plan team rosters with vacations in mind. We try to have an adequate number of players per team so that holiday absences are not problematic.

Registration Fees:

  • Minors (9-10) $130.00
  • Majors (11-12) $130.00
  • Juniors (13-14) $150.00
  • Seniors (15-16) $150.00
